Is an order placed with Wackenbus.com binding? Do I have a payment obligation?2024-07-14T13:50:15+02:00

If you would like to join us, you can place a binding order for bus tickets for the tour to Wacken Open Air 2025 here on this page. The number of bus tickets ordered will then be reserved for you immediately and automatically once you have successfully submitted the order and received our order confirmation by email.

If you have selected“Payment in advance“, we will reserve your ticket for you for 30 days so that you have enough time to pay for the ticket by bank transfer. During this time, we will contact you several times if we have not yet received payment. Due to the short notice before departure, we will shorten this regulation to a 7-day reservation period from the beginning of June and we will completely switch off the payment option in advance 7 days before departure ([day of departure]).

With the payment method “Paypal” or credit card” and possibly other instant payment methods, your place will be booked immediately, as your payment will be confirmed to us immediately by the provider.

Important: An order at Wackenbus.com will be automatically canceled by us after the payment deadline, but you will be informed by email.

Even more important: We do not want to encourage Wackenbus.com passengers to get into debt. That is why we decided years ago never again to take action against passengers with debt collection agencies. So that the question doesn’t arise in the first place, we will only provide services, i.e. bus travel and festival ticket, as soon as we have received your payment. So please do not send us any requests along the lines of “Can I perhaps only pay after Wacken?”

You want to complete your order, but it doesn’t go any further and you don’t know why?2025-01-23T22:04:24+01:00

Do you have a problem on the order page, e.g. with the selection of the payment method?

During the ordering process on Wackenbus.com you have to select a payment method, among other things. A shipping method is no longer required since 2019, as we no longer send paper tickets, but only work with a digital passenger list. Depending on the time of year and the country, Wackenbus.com may offer different payment methods. As soon as you select a payment method, you will be shown a short information text describing the selected payment method and also indicating whether we charge a separate fee for using the payment method.

Do you have a problem on the “Summary” page?

It is often overlooked that at the end of the order you have to check a box to agree to our terms and conditions and other provisions in order to submit an effective order. As soon as you have ticked this box, you can finalize the order by clicking on “Order with obligation to pay”.

Something is wrong with your order summary?

Before you submit a binding order, you should take a closer look at your order on the “Summary” page. If something is wrong, you can click on “Change” at the appropriate point and change the item again. If you have any questions, you can reach us at any time via our contact form.

Are you using an old browser? Then please switch!

Problems often occur with older web browsers during the ordering process. If you are using an old browser such as Internet Explorer 7 or older, we recommend that you switch to Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome, for example, for general security reasons. These browsers also run wonderfully on old PCs!

Unfortunately, a bug in the Wackenbus store system can never be ruled out?

It cannot be ruled out that our store may contain an error due to an update which we are not yet aware of and which prevents you from successfully placing an order. In this case, we would definitely appreciate a photo of the screen including the address line that you send to contact@wackenbus.com. You are also welcome to call us on our hotline 4926918839400 so that we can help you quickly.

You did not receive an email after the order process?2025-02-02T11:16:08+01:00

If you have not received our order confirmation email within 5 minutes of placing your order, something has definitely gone wrong. We therefore ask you to contact us by telephone(02691-8839401), by e-mail to contact@wackenbus.com or via the contact form, or to try placing an order again. We will of course automatically sort out any resulting duplicate orders without any problems.

Other possible causes:

    • It is often possible that an e-mail from Wackenbus.com is recognized as spam due to personal settings or the overly sensitive spam filter of your e-mail provider. Simply check whether the e-mail from Wackenbus.com has ended up in your spam folder. It can also be helpful to create a filter for email addresses contact@wackenbus.com, shop@wackenbus.com, mitfahrer@wackenbus.com and newsletter@wackenbus.com (sometimes abbreviated to *@wackenbus.com for all emails from us) to prevent emails from these sender addresses from being recognized as spam.
    • Recently, we have frequently experienced the problem that customers of some free e-mail providers, above all web.de, can no longer receive e-mails because their mailbox is overflowing. For this reason, which you as a private e-mail user often don’t even notice, the automatic order confirmation e-mail from Wackenbus may not be received without you or us being informed. This is not a problem for Wackenbus.com, but we are only pointing this out as a precaution. Solution: Delete all your old emails, including in the spam and trash folders
    • Is it possible that you entered an incorrect e-mail address when ordering? Typing error? Solution: Simply place a new order with the correct e-mail address. We will automatically recognize this based on your data and cancel the old order automatically without you having to inform us.
Why do you still have festival tickets if Wacken is officially sold out?2025-02-02T11:15:26+01:00

We are one of many official travel partners of the Wacken Open Air worldwide (see here) and receive a special contingent from the organiser, which we are only allowed to sell as a package with a bus ticket to the festival and at the official advance booking price. Therefore, Wackenbus.com still has festival tickets for sale at any time when the individually available festival tickets on Metaltix.com are already sold out.

Therefore, you and your group can easily buy festival tickets in a package with bus tickets from the departure point of your choice on our website at any time. If we are really sold out, this will be displayed accordingly and you will not be able to order anything else.

Experience shows that the Wacken Open Air is always sold out very early. If you see the information on our website that we still offer festival tickets for your departure location, our contingent is not yet exhausted and you can order a festival ticket together with a bus ticket. We reserve the right to offer festival tickets only for certain departure points or countries.

If there are no more festival tickets available because the festival is sold out, you can add your name to our waiting list at any time by sending us a message using the waiting list form.

Can I return my ticket combination of Wackenbus ticket and festival ticket if I can’t go?2025-01-19T22:29:55+01:00

Return of bus ticket with festival ticket

If we have a long waiting list of interested Metalheadz who are still looking for a ticket, we offer to buy back your bus ticket with festival ticket at the original price minus a processing fee of 30 %.

IMPORTANT: This offer is a voluntary service of Wackenbus.com, which is not necessarily valid all year round and to which there is no legal claim. We reserve the right to cancel or restrict this offer at any time!

How does it work?

You simply send us an e-mail with the request to return the bus ticket(s). We will then confirm to you in each individual case that we will take back the ticket combination or reject it in writing. If we agree to do so, we will then transfer the original price minus 30% processing fee per ticket bundle back to your account. Please give us 1-3 weeks to do this!

Is the ticket price valid for the entire tour or only for each direction?2025-01-19T22:35:51+01:00

For the most part, we sell bus tickets that are valid for the entire tour, i.e. outward journey to Wacken Open Air 2025 and return journey to the respective departure point. Depending on the departure point, we also offer bus tickets that only go in one direction. When ordering, please make sure that you order the correct bus ticket.

The price usually includes the following, unless otherwise indicated

  • the outward journey from the departure point of your choice on Monday, July, 28th 2025
  • the return journey on Sunday, August 3rd 2025 from Wacken on the same route!

An exception is, of course, if you have explicitly booked only the outward or return journey in exceptional cases.

We only offer this option subject to availability depending on the departure point and capacity utilisation of the respective bus route.

Am I on the same bus as my friends who are getting on somewhere else?2025-01-23T22:04:24+01:00

Depending on the booking situation, the routes taken by one of the Wackenbuses may vary from year to year. That’s why we always publish our exact planning of which bus is going to which departure points towards the end of June, but it only becomes binding on the weekend before departure.

Some departure points are traditionally served by the same bus, while other departure points are served by different buses depending on the number of bookings. As a rule, however, only one Wackenbus stops at the same bus stop. In rare exceptional cases there are two Wackenbuses that stop at different departure times at the same departure point. In these cases we will point this out.

You can usually tell whether you are on the same bus from the beginning/mid-July by the bus number on the respective side of the departure point. Unfortunately, for logistical reasons, our planning can still change in the course of July.

If it is particularly important to you to be on the same bus with friends beforehand, please contact us so that we can try to take this into account in our planning.

However, you can be sure that you will be on the same bus without having to ask if you have placed several tickets for a group under the same name (also in several orders) and have chosen the same departure point.

The return journey – Why does my bus return at night or early in the morning?2025-01-19T22:22:07+01:00

Since we started Wackenbus.com in 2008, we have gained a lot of experience and learned a lot. In the early years, most of the Wackenbuses took us home at 09:00 in the morning and we were stuck in traffic jams for hours, often even before we reached Hamburg.

At some point, we decided that it was in the interest of everyone on board that the Wackenbuses should drive back before the heavy traffic from the festival starts heading south. Therefore, Wackenbus has the following two return times:

Return journey from 03:30 – Wackenbuses to southern Germany and Switzerland

  • All Wackenbuses with a final destination in southern Germany (from about south of Frankfurt/Main), Austria or Switzerland traditionally depart at 03:30.
  • Why 03:30? Isn’t that when I want to sleep?
    • The Wacken Open Air 2025 always ends on Saturday night at 03:00 after the last band has played. Since, in our experience, most of our passengers want to enjoy the festival to the full, we offer that all coaches returning at 03:30 am come to the festival bus station on Saturday morning or at noon for so-called pre-loading. You can then take your tent and all your luggage to the bus and only keep everything you need for the day, for example, and then you can enjoy the festival Saturday until the end and simply go to your bus at 03:00, which will be waiting for you at the festival bus station ready for departure.
  • When does the bus arrive on Saturday for pre-loading?
    • We will inform you about the times in the info PDF that we will send you on the weekend before departure. Your tour guides will also inform you of the pre-loading time on the coach shortly before arrival. As a rule, the coach will be waiting for you in a time window of at least one hour, and due to the regulations regarding the driving times of the coach driver, which serve the safety of us all, there are rules and laws as to how many breaks the coach driver must take before a longer journey (11 hours before he is allowed to drive again for 9 hours). As the bus driver has to take the bus from his accommodation to the festival bus station and back again, it is unfortunately not possible for the bus to arrive in the afternoon for pre-loading. And besides, you usually want to watch bands in the afternoon!

Return journey from 07:00 – All Wackenbuses Germany West and Center

  • All Wacken busses that have as their final destination a city approximately from Frankfurt/Main and further north will return at 07:00 in the morning. We also do this to avoid the traffic jam after the festival. At the time of the Wacken Open Air 2025 sunrise is around 06:00, which is a bit early to set up camp, but it’s better than being stuck in a traffic jam for too long, isn’t it?
Which coaches do you use? Do you have your own coaches?2025-01-19T22:24:55+01:00

Wackenbus.com is a project by Wacken fans for Wacken fans. We do not come from the coach industry, but first came into contact with the industry through the Wacken Open Air. That’s why we don’t have our own coaches, but work together with many different coach companies from whom we charter the coaches.

We have often been working with coach companies for many years with whom we have had good experiences and have developed friendships with many companies and coach drivers over the years.

When selecting coaches, we make special demands on the coach companies. For example, we don’t necessarily need the brand-new bus with leather seats, but the bus must be clean, run reliably, have plenty of luggage space and, for example, a trailer or a ski box and amenities such as a refrigerator and the option of connecting mobile phones to the music system. The air conditioning should also work, as it can usually get very hot when we are travelling to Wacken Open Air 2025!

Are there toilets on the bus? All information about toilets on the bus and during the journey2025-01-19T22:25:49+01:00

There is always a toilet on our coaches, but it has a limited capacity and is therefore only intended for “urgent emergencies”. The tour guides therefore endeavour to take sufficient breaks at rest stops with toilet facilities. If in doubt, please ask your tour guide.

We have also been asked whether there are separate toilets on the coach: We are not aware of any coaches that have separate toilets for men and women!

What can I buy on the bus? Can I bring my own drinks?2025-01-19T22:29:12+01:00

We are happy to allow you to take drinks with you for immediate consumption (e.g. as provisions in your hand luggage). Beer crates, beer can pallets etc. are not permitted. On the festival site and in the town of Wacken there are plenty of shopping facilities (e.g. an EDEKA supermarket or a shopping mile on the festival site) at fair prices.

You can buy (chilled) beer and non-alcoholic drinks on the bus itself during the journey. We always negotiate with the bus companies so that we can offer a fair price for drinks (approx. €1.50 to €2.00 depending on the bus).

Are the seats numbered? Is it possible to reserve a specific seat?2025-01-19T22:30:24+01:00

There is usually a free choice of seats on the bus.

Only in exceptional cases (disability or similar) can we reserve special seats for you by prior arrangement!

How much are the bus tickets and what do they cost?2025-01-23T22:05:04+01:00

The price of a bus ticket includes the following:

  • The bus journey to the Wacken Open Air 2025 from the selected departure point on Monday, July, 28th 2025 and the return journey on Sunday, August 3rd 2025 following the Wacken Open Air 2025.
  • If an outward journey only bus ticket has been booked, only the outward journey on Monday, July, 28th 2025 from the selected departure point to the Wacken Open Air 2025 is included.
  • If a return-only bus ticket has been booked, only the return journey on Sunday, August 3rd 2025 from the Wacken Open Air 2025 to the selected destination is included.
  • If a festival ticket for the Wacken Open Air 2025 has also been ordered, a digital festival ticket for the Wacken Open Air 2025 is included, which we will gladly transfer digitally to your account at the Wacken Ticket Centre or alternatively, upon special request, as a printed PDF document upon arrival at the Wacken Open Air 2025 on special request. As soon as we have received your festival ticket from the organiser (usually around March/April), we will be happy to send you your festival ticket(s) as soon as you complete this application for legal reasons!

The bus ticket does NOT include the following:

  • We are happy to transport you to the Wacken Open Air 2025but we are NOT a tour guide during your stay at Wacken Open Air 2025 and therefore do NOT offer accommodation, camps or similar, but spend the festival (just like you) on the festival site and travel back on the Wackenbus on Sunday. Even if there are traditionally some tent camps consisting of fellow travellers and tour guides, these are not organised by Rockfahrzentrale UG (haftungsbeschränkt), i.e. the Wackenbus, but privately by several tour guides.
  • Since we have abolished the printed bus ticket since 2019, we no longer send out bus tickets. In return, we no longer charge postage costs, but only work with digital passenger lists. In the event of a resale of a passenger list seat, we will be happy to confirm to the buyer and seller that a legitimate list seat has been booked before and after the purchase.
  • Drinks and snacks on the coach are not included in the price and must be paid for separately. However, we always agree with the coach companies that the price is reasonable and not overpriced.
Is the ticket price valid for the entire tour or only for each direction?2025-01-19T22:35:51+01:00

For the most part, we sell bus tickets that are valid for the entire tour, i.e. outward journey to Wacken Open Air 2025 and return journey to the respective departure point. How much luggage can I take with me?2025-01-23T22:04:24+01:00

The luggage question is the absolute classic at Wackenbus.com

It may not be too important for you if you travel by plane to germany and join our busses since you may not have too much luggage with you.

By the way: Ask us if you want some hints how to buy tents, sleeping bags or similar equipment in Germany so you don’t need to bring it with you from home. It may often be cheaper to buy equipment here and give it to charity after the festival.

Before we recommend how much luggage fits in our buses, we would like to point out that you will have to walk from the festival bus stop to the campsite on arrival in Wacken. This can be 200 metres in the best case, but also 2 km, depending on where you want to camp.

Each of our buses has at least one large boot or a ski box, depending on the expected number of people, but usually a trailer. In recent years, most of our buses have had a trailer as we prefer trailers to be able to load quickly and safely at the stops. Unfortunately, we cannot always guarantee a trailer, as sometimes it is not possible for the bus company to provide one for logistical reasons. Unfortunately, the bus is only allowed to travel at 80 km/h with a trailer, which slows the journey down considerably.

However, we ask you to keep your luggage to a minimum. We recommend the following as standard equipment, which we always transport without any problems:

  • Sleeping bag
  • Tent
  • Sleeping mat
  • Sports bag or suitcase with clothes
  • pavilion for several passengers together if necessary
  • Backpack as hand luggage on the bus at the pitch

We will only transport the following items after prior notification and only with our written permission:

  • Hand truck for luggage
  • Wheelchairs for the disabled (of course we always allow them, but we need to know in advance that one will be with us)
  • large, bulky items

Please send an email to contact@wackenbus.com or via our contact form to request authorisation for these items.

We expressly refuse the following items

  • Beer crates and canned beer pallets (chilled beer is offered on the bus at fair prices and there is plenty of cheap beer to buy in Wacken!)
  • All equipment containing oils, flammable liquids, etc. (aggregates, etc.)
  • Canisters of any kind Dangerous or prohibited objects (e.g. weapons, knives, etc.)

IMPORTANT RULES:

Please only take as much luggage with you as you or your group can carry and transport to the campsite without having to walk several times.

Can a minor travel on the Wackenbus?2025-01-19T22:40:39+01:00

Wackenbus.com is a transfer service with coaches that are not subject to any age restrictions in Germany. We therefore do not check the age of our passengers, so minors are also welcome to travel with us.

But time and again parents call us with just one question:

Can I take my son/daughter under 18 to the Wacken Open Air?

Dear parents,

in principle, our answer is that Wacken Open Air is one of the most peaceful festivals in Germany from our (and also from a statistical) point of view. It is up to you to decide whether you trust your child enough to go, with or without friends. Although it is important to us that we ONLY organise the bus trip and not the stay at the festival, a group of passengers and tour guides from all buses has traditionally formed for many years, to which every passenger is welcome to join. This group basically consists of many fellow travellers from the Wacken bus and is a good opportunity for those travelling alone to get to know new people and spend the festival in a group. Of course, nobody in the group can take responsibility for your underage child, but experience shows that mutual control works well automatically and so far all minors have been brought back safely.

The official regulations of the organiser regarding minors at the Wacken Open Air can be found here on the Wacken Open Air homepage under “Child and Youth Protection”

I have not received my festival ticket yet or when will I receive my festival ticket?2025-01-23T22:02:30+01:00

When there were still were real hardcover festival tickets, we always handed over the festival tickets on the bus for security reasons.

Since Wacken Open Air 2022, however, there have only been digital festival tickets with personalization.

The organizer usually sends us the festival tickets that we bought from him digitally in the spring. We will start sending the festival tickets to you on July 15th 2025e automatically. However, we are also happy to send you your festival tickets beforehand if you use our festival ticket request form! We recommend that you create an account with your email address on ticketcenter.wacken.com beforehand!

Unfortunately, we have found in recent years that we have been used as a “last-minute booking office” by many people who do not want to use the bus ride and just want to get a festival ticket. Since we cannot legally force anyone to get on the bus, we unfortunately cannot prevent this, but we urgently ask you to do the following:

Please let us know if, for whatever reason, you cannot or no longer want to use the bus ride. It is very fair to the other passengers so that we do not have to wait for you at the departure point.

Why do you still have festival tickets if Wacken is officially sold out?2025-02-02T11:15:26+01:00
